Suzanne's Story

Suzanne serves on the boards of the Community Action Agency of Somerville, the city's leading anti-poverty organization, and Union Square Main Streets, which fosters local small business development. She is vice-chair of the Somerville Ward 3 Democratic Committee, and a member of the curriculum committee of Emerge Massachusetts.

Suzanne is a graduate of Boston University, and Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science. She began her career at Price Waterhouse, built her own consulting company, worked for the New Hampshire State Library and was webmaster for the city of Newton Massachusetts. Until recently, she worked at the Global Development and Environment Institute at Tufts University, where she managed a project that provides access to information in support of sustainable development.

A former member of AFSCME Local 3092, Suzanne is active in the Tufts Employee Association.  She has also been a visiting writer at the William Joiner Center for the Study of War and Social Consequences at University of Massachusetts, Boston, and at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown.

She and her wife, Jane Peyrouse, have two children, a son born in Hanoi, Vietnam, and a daughter, born in Katmandu, Nepal.  Both attend public school in Somerville. In her spare time, Suzanne is an avid reader and enjoys downhill skiing, fishing, and hiking in the Middlesex Fells with her kids.

A long-time Somerville resident, Suzanne has always been an active member of the community. Whether registering voters, working on behalf of other candidates, or helping a neighbor get needed services, she has earned a reputation as a vigorous, caring and committed leader.
